A Year? Really?!?

I can't believe that it's really been so long since I've posted. I guess I just didn't have anything to say. >.< In that time I've gotten a new place--an apartment that I like loads more than I ever liked my house, a nice rejection letter on Viral rEvolution (meh) and not much else. I've posted a few haiku on Twitter (and will do more as they're actually kinda fun) and in the process realized that some of my fave actors (I'm looking at you John Barrowman) are totally addicted to the service, but in a fun way for fans. (There was this lovely video they made --in a bathroom of all places--where a few of the actors from Arrow sang a bit from Grease.) Watch the Twitter feed assuming that it works, of course. I'm currently without a PC and do everything from my iPad, so I can't drag it down to where I want it, but that's a minor thing.

By the by, if you're not watching Arrow on the CW hit up Amazon to get the back episodes right now! It'll be back with the last 4 episodes of the season (they've ordered Season Two so do your happy dance!) next Wednesday. Not tomorrow, sadly. Next Wednesday. 7pm Central in the US. Watch it!

Oh, you A Girl and Her Fed  fans take note, K.B. Spangler has her first book out!  It's called Digital Divide and is set during the 5 year gap between the Agents going public and Congress finally getting its crap together and acknowledging OACET as an official government agency.  The books (and there are going to be 4 more) focus on Rachel Peng (aka Penguin to her friends) the Agent who went blind staring at the sun and whose implant compensated in the most dramatic way.  She's OACET's liaison with D.C.'s Metro Police, so the book is a sort of SF/Mystery hybrid of the best sort.  It's only 5 bucks, so you really have no excuse not to check it out.

I'll try to post more often.  I also have cat videos on Vine.  I'm crysthecat both there and on Twitter.  I have decided that as part of my get back in shape routine that I'm going to re-watch Arrow while on the elliptical then, after my shower, sit down and write a series of haiku about each one.  I'll post them here as well as on Twitter.  When I run out of Arrow, I'l pick something else and do the same.  We'll see how it goes.  Unfortunately, the exercise room is far enough away that I can't pick up my wifi and thus can't use Netflix for this project.  That will limit things to what I already own and can afford to buy.

Must . . .Sleep. . .

. . . but I didn't make my pages today. *sniff*  I've had to start looking for a second job and my best friend let me know yesterday that a position had come open at her library (of the sort that you don't need your MLS to get), so I had to wait for them to open, fill out the application, and swing by the grocery store for cheap dog food before sleeping.  Also, CashSavers has the best fried chicken, and they had just put it out.  My growling tummy demanded that it, too, deserved some food, so I came home and stuffed myself just before going to bed whilst re-watching an old Mythbusters episode.  Not the best thing for losing weight, but at least it's all protein.

Now it's nearly 11 in the morning and I still haven't gotten to bed and I have to be up in five hours. *gah!*
While we wait to see if I get the job, I shall be praying that my lottery numbers bring me good fortune (or simply a fortune ^^) soon.

Oh.  Slightly more on topic, Capriciousness didn't even make it to the short list, much less the final round.  I'm currently working on taking the concept and developing it into a YA series.  I've a general outline for two books.  I can probably stretch it into a third later.  My goal is at least 2 pages a day on work days and just as much as I can get on free days.  Of course, once I have a second job free days will be few and far between, but so long as I put in the effort to get in a couple pages a day, I'll make progress.  Won't be happening today, though, unless I get some in during break time at work tonight.  Then again, I did already get my shower before going to the library, so I might get a little time to work on it before I leave for work tonight.  Though it's far more likely that I'll hit the snooze repeatedly.

Albedo One, Aeon Awards

The Capriciousness is on its way.  (Deep breaths.  I'm not panicking.  Honest.  NOT PANICKING AT ALL! ARRRGH!!!)

Here's some silly cats set to music.

Ahhhh!

I just sent Viral r/Evolution to tor.com.  Panicking a bit, even though I know full well that it'll likely be months before anyone rejects, I mean, reads it.

Now I just need to finish up Capriciousness' New PaN and send it off.  That one's for a contest so I'll get my rejection over with sooner. *Bad, bad, Crys.  Stop being negative*  I actually have a lot more confidence about Capriciousness.  I have tons of background and world-building in my head.  It's just hard getting it all into a nice neat, short story package (it must be under 10k).

Arkansas Weather

Ugh.  You have to love (hate) Arkansas weather.  There will be around 30 degrees F (about 18 degrees C) difference between the highs and lows for the next week or so (and have been for the last week).  It's warm in the afternoons when I head to work, but I have to take my heavy coat with me, because by the time I head for home the temperature is hovering just above freezing.  Joy.

In other news, I picked the last of my watermelons and gave them to my friend in order to foil my watermelon thief.  I had been saving a particularly large one but it was stolen out of my yard a couple weeks ago.  Last week another (my smallest) was taken.  I had two left, hidden in some high grass that had grown around them, so I picked them before my thief could come back and take a closer look around.  Honestly, some people are just beyond belief.  Either grow it yourself or go to the store!

Let There Be Pirates!

I've pretty much given up on the Yonaguni story. It just refused to go anywhere. Horror is officially not my genre.  Instead I've been editing Viral r/Evolution and Capriciousness' New PaN.  I've added quite a bit to the end of Capriciousness and therein lie the pirates. ^^  I've got to keep it under 10k for the International Aeon Award, but that shouldn't be too hard.  I have about 6k right now and my main character (Erin) is getting all settled into his new life on board (he's a flirtatious thing ^^).  It's going to be good.  I just need to wrap it up in the next week or so, force feed it to my friend for critique then pay the 7 Euro entry fee.  I hope to have Viral's edits done in the next few days, then I'll be sending it off for its first rejection letter. >.<  I shouldn't say that, but let's face it, it's a bit long.  I like it, but I fear getting lots of tl;dr type comments from people...actually I already have! *sigh*  But, but, but, it's all necessary! *sob*

I still think Capriciousness may yet turn into a book.  We'll see.

Never Slow Down

There's this new-ish site called audioboo where you post audio clips.  It's kinda like twitter, only with sound.  It's free and one of my absolute favorite musicians, SJ Tucker (aka s00j) led me over there.  This is her reading a poem.

And while I'm at it, she has a new online "album" of 2 songs...
